Pidge is predominantly a landscape artist painting exclusively in oil paint and travels far and wide to find his subject matter.

He is a self taught artist who for over a decade staunchly painted outdoors only.  A deep love of being out in the countryside, especially near water allowed him to develop his passion for painting.  Working from life outdoors is an intensive, wonderful and sometimes frustrating way to learn the art of painting. One by-product of working exclusively outdoors for so long is his reluctance to use a studio and just painting wherever he puts up his outdoor easel much to his wife's constant irritation.

Now painting both outdoors and in, he uses his love of the sea and the coastline to create his paintings through a mix of painting from life and his imagination.

He has also spent a decade teaching painting with a number of his students going on themselves to sell their work successfully. Helping others to develop their own creativity is a love second only to that of painting itself.

Pidge currently lives in the UK with his wife but has spent his life travelling around the world and has lived in seven different countries on three different continents and always has itchy feet for more travel.  He spent his formative years growing up in mainland Europe both in the Netherlands and Spain and he never gets bored with exploring Europe in all its beauty and diversity in culture.  Due to travelling there a lot in a previous career, he has a particular fondness for Sweden and with his love of anything boat related enjoys Stockholm and its amazing lakes and archipelago whenever he gets a chance.  Truly one of the most beautiful places in Europe.
